As much as Peter Howard would like to say he got his cooking skills by standing be-aproned at his mother’s side, he can’t. Coming from a large family, his mother did not have such frivolous time to do such mentoring but what she and his father did do was instill a love of eating good food and respect for food and its producers from farmers to cooks of all descriptions.

This love was to develop into a passion that was to render him a brilliant career in which to put into practice the developed passion. His cooking skills were imparted to him at East Sydney Food School in the 1970 -72.

What followed was a life of living in the light of glorious adventures all around Australia and the world – in and out of kitchens. The survivor of four restaurants/cafes and one large catering coming, he knows in retrospect, that all that was necessary to be achieve the career highlights list below. And that accrued knowledge is now allowing him to write the fictional works he recently started.

Being 70 of age, he loves everything he does and then some. He believes is doesn’t matter when it happens as long as it does!

  • Chef on Midday Show with Ray Martin 1986 to 1993
  • Author of 18 cookbooks from 1983 to 2015; also co-author of two text books for Hospitality Industry
  • Contributor to many newspapers and magazines including Sydney Morning Herald, Sun Herald, Gourmet and Gourmet Traveller, Delicious Cookbook.
  • 2GB food authority from 1980 to 2010 – in various capacities from own show (Peter Howard’s Table) and to contributor to various radio shows.
  • Presenter at every Masterclass in Australia during the years they were conducted.
  • Consulting Chef for G’day LA and G’day USA for 4 years
  • Owner/partner in 4 restaurants and one catering business
  • TAFE teacher for 11 years – degree in Education
  • Vietnam Vet – Australian Army from 1968 – 1970 (has PTSD from the experiences
  • Declared a Living Legend of Tourism in mid 90ies
